The Journey of a Thousand Miles Always begins with One Step.

India here I come!

On Jan. 5th I will be getting on a plane to Bangalore, a 14 hour flight, where I will then arrive to only get in a car and drive two hours to get to Shanti Bhavan: a beautiful 42-acre Safe Haven full of 200 of the most beautiful and brilliant "untouchable" children. Once I arrive there, I will be volunteering my time and helping lead other volunteers on campus. I hope to apply my compassion and creative arts therapy skills with this community and can only hope that my time there will not only allow for my personal growth but help empower this true "safe haven".

Currently, I am anxiously awaiting my trip, in true American comfort that only South Beach, the island of excess and superficiality, can provide. I sit here, in pure luxury, on Lincoln Road, sipping at my Cappucino, reflecting on this journey I am about to embark on and the path that has brought me here to this very point.

I began 2009 a married woman, living in a box full of illusions of material happiness. I end 2009 living in circles of truth, love and compassion with very little material excess. In, fact, I worked the last three months to raise the money to do this volunteer position in India. I still do not know what will come of it when I return. I do not have a game plan, nor money. I will have to start again. But I am not afraid. I have learned this year, that if you follow your truth, all else will work itself out.

Anyone who thinks, you cannot make your dreams a reality, hasn't met me! If you apply yourself, anything is possible. If you call it out to the Universe and stay open to the signs around you, then you too can manifest your dreams.

India, is my homecoming. I am returning home. The time has come for the final phase of my cocoon. I know I will not come back the same. I go open to falling in love with the 200+ children of Shanti Bhavan . I go weary of the Scorpions and Snakes. I go, fearful of the lonely nights, and the cold showers with buckets! But I also go. I go proud, a warrior of love and life. I go cause its time to let go. I go. To let go now, I go.

I invite you to join me on this journey. It will surely be magical. I hope it will only inspire you to live your dreams as I am living mine.
